Coffee as a Technical Problem
The hardware we're building, the research that makes us need to reconsider everything, the consignment shelf, the after-dark program (CUTS 'n' CUPS). All of it serves one stubborn idea. Make coffee better and prove it. Coffee is, underneath the romance, a systems problem, and that a systems mind will surface things that taste and tradition tend to miss.
Running FBR café opened up our eyes to variables involved in making coffee better in a real-world environment. We unconvered exactly where inefficeneies and waste come from. Those insights were what drove us to the development of the mDOT.
